Robert holds Masters Degree in Business Administration and also completed certificate work at the Wharton Business School in the areas of Strategic Alliances, Competitive Advantage, and Organizational Effectiveness. The Institute of Management Consultants has certified him as a CMC (Certified Management Consultant). Robert is the author of the book, “The Formula...Building Competitive Advantage.” The book provides strategic and tactical direction for the trucking industry specifically the LTL (Less than Truckload) carrier and is in its second printing. He served as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the US Navy Seabees serving 30 months in Vietnam, and is the recipient of the Presidential Unit Citation for extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy. He is an active Pilot and is a licensed Commercial Pilot and licensed Helicopter Pilot. Robert learned the value of “always expect to win” and “competitive spirit” in the field of sports. As a college football coach, he was a Strength and Conditioning Coach and Defensive Line Coach. He is an active member in the elite American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). He began his transportation career Southeastern Freight Lines in Columbia, SC holding several leadership positions in his 15-year tenure. He left Southeastern in 1986 and founded Effective Management Systems, Inc. he developed an AS400 based software package designed to assist future based leaders and companies in improving competitive position. He also coaches leaders on strategy and tactics to improve performance and gain higher capacity utilization through building operating leverage and has developed a Performance Based Incentive Compensation program, used by several carriers today, tied to his Profit Improvement software package. He also developed a Management Trainee Program in use by several carriers.
